The club have been screaming out for more fans to come down to Deepdale, well last night they did. For a 3rd round Carling cup game it was a good turn out.
We all turned up to see us have a good go at one of the prems big boys!
To say I was disappointed when I saw the starting XI is an understatement, I am not happy paying full price to watch our 2nd string!! If Irvine is not going to take the competition seriously he should of said before we all spent our cash!!
I am not saying our full strength squad would of won, but it would of been good to of had a proper go.
Let down again by the club!! 😡😡

Well perhaps if he had a bigger squad to chose from he could have played a team along the lines you would have liked but, as you keep reminding us, we have no money to provide that. You can't have it both ways Steve😡

Ranks thats what i wrote early on this morning mate;
On receiving the team sheets before the game i looked at our team and nearly f*cked of home. Gregan said "they spurs are full strength (obviously without their two centre backs) and i said "have you seen our team?. That is no disrespect to the lads who were picked but you could see disaster written all over our team selection. My turn to go on the radio and i say exactly the same thing; "were on back of a great second half performance against Coventry, the lads and the fans are buzzing and it leaves out the three main men from that game. Billy jones in midfield in a 4-3-3 formation was like putting a ball boy in the team. He didn't know what hit him. By the end of the first half he didn't know which way he was kicking. He was all over the place. The back two lads have no legs but we were letting them pick it up deep and run at us. Shumi, i have more pace than him. Kevin Nicholas mark 2.
Yet Spurs for the first 15 mins were all over the place a Brown Mellor formation would have made them pay and a 4-4 f*cking two would have been compact enough to stop them breaking on us. For me it was a disater waiting to happen. Yet we get to half time only 2-0 down and nothing changes.
Alan says the scoreline is harsh yes it is its harsh on Spurs they could have scored five in the final 10 mins before half time. Our only decent spell in the entire game was when the three lads mentioned came on.
Course we have big game on Saturday but games against spurs only come around once every decade so lets at least give it a go with our best team. New supporters coming on for the first time good tv coverage a great chances to give the club good PR and get new customers on yet we blow it big time.
Its not like me to have a go but i feel really let down not by the players but by the team selection and tactics on the night.
See you all at Leicester

2nd string ???
Players who played Saturday
Lonergan
Jones
Chilvers
Nolan
Wallace
Carter
Collins - cup tied
Sedgwick - Wife had baby
I agree with the others that Mellor and Brown deserved to start but he was probably saving them for Leicester. How mad would everyone have been had one of these 2 got injured and we had to put up with Elliott for another game.
Irvine had his hands tied with the squad he could put out hence the 3 unknowns on the bench. Disrespecting the fans, I don't think so. Maybe Shaw should look at the wafer thin squad and do something about it.

I think the agenda's are all yours Steve, we understand more than you think what is going on with your posts.
Had the players on the bench been injured last night, we would have been struggling in the league, and then there really would have been an outcry would there not😡

There is no gaurntee he will play Brown and Mellor on Saturday anyway. Also you ahve more chance of an injury when you bring players on than actaully starting them.
It was great opertuiny last night and we should ahve gone for it. You can get injuried getting out of your car. Lost oppertunity for me but even with the lads he had he should ahve gone 442 on them not stick your full back in midfield and then go 4-3-3. Jones was like a fish out of water

13 fit full time professionals!!!
This for a club that has consistently been one that has been in and around the play offs for years. This for a team that is up there challenging yet again. The answer, sell off your best assets, loan out people like trotman etc. Like it or not were all going to have to wake up and smell the coffee soon. We are majorly living on borrowed time right now. The time weve borrowed is about to be called in.

Think that stat tells us who's doing the p**s taking , and it isn't Irvine .

You're complaining about being beat 5-1 yet you wanted us to match up with them and go 4-4-2 from the start, they'd have slaughtered us even more. We obviously played a 4-5-1 to try and stifle their play a little and to an extent it worked. We got a lot of men behind the ball and they struggled to get through. However as the game wore on and started to get more stretched they were starting to find more holes. Spurs finishes were very clinical and that was the main difference.

I agree with everything you said Rankine in the firsI post - I made a long round trip to watch the game and couldn't believe the team selection bearing in mind what happened at Sc*nthorpe.
As for my irritating correction - I know it's an internet forum and wouldn't dream of being so pedantic re: spelling/grammar etc - of for have though is a bridge too far. But you're right is a bit petty pointing such things out and for my pettiness I apologise
