He was injured and mentally ill. I'm not excusing his fragility, but when he can play, he generally does ok. He proved it last season. We'd have been a couple of rungs down the ladder without his input.

Not read most posts but expect they were the usual depressing stuff. Massive improvement on last 2 visits to Newcastle but we still lost despite a good performance. Our away form has been poor for some time and that has as much to do with character than skill. This needs addressing and our next away matches are Coventry, MU & 2 Europa opponents. We need to win some of these.
Now we were unlucky that both our CF's were injured and I am not sure if VDV was injured or rested to allow Dragusin to play. If it was the later we really need to be able to win matches with players missing. We do now have some depth and we need to get used to our top players being rested.
Did not watch the pre season matches and thought Bergvall played some good inventive play against Leicester and then made that mistake that he was bollocked for and since then has played it safe. He needs to be encouraged to become creative again as we need that and we will have to live with the odd mistake.

Ange's system,or rather lack thereof, doesnt work. Romero plays a totally different way when playing for Argentina. Teams are built using specific players for a specific Style.
Maddison cannot play Ange Ball. He needs space in the middle. There are always 5 people within 10m of him. He cannot operate like that.
Bissouma isn't a No 6. He is Great at playing 8 or 10 but has no idea of defense.
Porro and Udogie would make a Great WBs, but they suck as Inverted FBs. They way better going forward than defending. They need the continuous cover defense provided by a 3CB + DM system. Conte would have won the league with this team + Kane.
It's also why I believe anyone that thinks we had a Good Transfer window is an Idiot. We bought haphazardly. Youngsters with loads of potential but may not be able to fit Ange Ball.
