Whether you're watching on a streaming device or smart TV, there are plenty of programmes to binge, including returning favourites and exclusiveITVX shows! So, it's time to dust off those hot water bottles and get the comfy pyjamas and blankets to watch the best new ITV dramas.

Grace Series 4

John Simm and Richie Campbell are back as DS Roy Grace and DS Glenn Branson in Series 4 of Grace, the Brighton-based ITV crime drama. Each episode is based on a book by bestselling author Peter James.

Speaking of their return, actor John Simm said: “I’m so pleased to be back on set, filming series four of Grace. Four of Peter James’ Roy Grace novels are being adapted for this series and Grace fans will be pleased to know the stories are as dark as ever with lots of twists and turns".

The Tower 3: Gallowstree Lane

Hit drama The Tower - which stars Gemma Whelan as a by-the-book detective - is back for another series. Yet again, the show (based on Kate London's books), focuses on relevant issues within society.

Also reprising their roles as police officers are Tahirah Sharif, Emmett J. Scanlan and Jimmy Akingbola.

Here's a synopsis from ITV: "Nearly two years since we last saw Sarah Collins, we catch up with her as she is called to the brutal stabbing of a teenager. Her investigation soon finds itself at cross purposes with a covert operation led by Kieran Shaw, who is working with Sarah’s old partner, Steve Bradshaw, now deep undercover. Lizzie Adama meanwhile, is back at Farlow trying to balance her new role as a Detective with a family life. Her path and Kieran’s are about to cross."

Playing Nice

James Norton and Niamh Algar face a moral dilemma in psychological thriller Playing Nice, which has been adapted from JP Delaney's page-turning book.

'Set against a sweeping Cornish landscape, two couples discover that their toddlers were switched at birth in a hospital mix-up, and face a horrifying dilemma: do they keep the sons they have raised and loved, or reclaim their biological child?

Living a waking nightmare, Pete (James Norton) and Maddie (Niamh Algar) are jettisoned into the world of the other couple; Miles (James McArdle) and Lucy (Jessica Brown Findlay). At first it seems all four are agreed on a solution, but it soon becomes clear that hidden motives are at play. How far can each couple trust the real parents of their child – or even each other? As Pete and Maddie are stretched to breaking point, they realise they will stop at nothing to keep their family together.'

Until I Kill You

Based on Delia Balmer’s book Living with a Serial Killer, Until I Kill You focuses on the true story of an agency nurse (played by Motherland and A Spy Amongst Friends actress Anna Maxwell Martin) who is brutally attacked by her serial-killer boyfriend (played by Shaun Evans, Endeavour, Vigil) who evades justice after confessing to her that he killed his previous girlfriend and disposed of her body in a canal.

'Until I Kill You narrates the ordeal that Delia suffered at the hands of John Sweeney and her traumatic journey through the police and criminal justice system as they attempt to prosecute him for his crimes.'

DI Ray Series 2

D.I Rachita Ray (played by Parminder Nagra, best known for her roles in Bend It Like Beckham and Maternal) is back solving some big cases in series two of the hit crime drama on ITV.

Other returning cast members include Gemma Whelan (The Tower, Gentleman Jack, Game of Thrones) as DCI Kerry Henderson, Ian Puleston-Davies (The Bay, Archie) as Superintendent Ross Beardsmore, Steve Oram (The End of the F***ing World) as DS Clive Bottomley, Peter Bankole (The Chelsea Detective) as DS Kwesi Edmund and Sam Baker-Jones (The Walk-In) as DC Liam Payne.

ITV have also announced a line-up of fantastic new cast members including Patrick Baladi (Breeders, Line of Duty) as DI Patrick Holden, Dinita Gohil (Our House) as Anita Choudhry, Witney White (Father Brown) as DC Charlene Ellis, Michael Socha (Big Boys Don’t Cry, Chernobyl) as Dave Chapman, Syreeta Kumar (Apple Tree Yard) as Sharan Mochani, Lauren Drummond (Holby City) as Suzie Chapman and Taha Rahim as Ravinder ‘Rav’ Mochani.

'The new series will see Leicester-born DI Ray investigating the murder of a high-profile criminal - sensitive ethnic issues relating to the case ignite racial tensions causing a personal conflict for Rachita, both as a British Asian woman and as a police officer, which she must fight to prevent a turf war erupting on the streets of Birmingham….'

Joan

Sophie Turner, known for Game of Thrones, plays the real-life jewel thief Joan Hannington, who is trapped in a tumultuous marriage with the infamous criminal Gary. When Gary flees, Joan grabs the chance to forge a new path for herself and her six-year-old daughter.

ITV says: "Adopting new identities and making new acquaintances along the way, Joan becomes a masterful jewel thief - she embarks on a thrilling and high-stakes journey that challenges her every limit while driven by her desire to care for her daughter and create a secure home for them both."

Mrs Davis

So Long, Marianne

A new ITV drama for 2024 is So Long, Marianne, which focusses on the romance between Canadian poet and singer Leonard Cohen (Alex Wolff) and Marianne Ihlen (Thea Sofie Loch Næss).

'Their story crosses the world, travelling from the Greek Island of Hydra to New York, Montreal and Oslo with the majority of the series set on picturesque Hydra where they lived during the 1960s - there they joined the now-iconic Australian novelists Charmian Clift and her husband George Johnston, the matriarch and patriarch of a bohemian group of writers, artists, poets, and outcasts who were exploring a new world of free love, drugs, and artistic freedom but also experiencing the rivalries and jealousy that accompanied their intense and interwoven lives.'

Protection

Happy Valley stars Siobhan Finneran (also known for Benidorm, The Stranger and Alma's Not Normal) and Katherine Kelly (who you may recognise from Coronation Street, The Long Shadow and Innocent) will be leading upcoming ITV drama Protection, which is based on the first-hand experiences of a long serving witness protection officer.

Here's what the writer, Kris had to say: "Protection is a suspenseful conspiracy thriller, but it also explores some complex moral questions, about how far we should be prepared to go in order to serve the greater good. The murky world of witness protection, where hardened criminals are often sheltered, in the hope that they will help bring down other criminals, provides the perfect context for examining these thorny issues."
